If you're not too bothered by their appearance, you can always snip them right back in the early spring. And if you have any dead leaves at the base, you can gently remove them by hand. Cut back deciduous agapanthus to about 4 inches (10 cm) above the ground for best results. The green leaves can stay as they are, but if you prune them, remove any dead, damaged, or unsightly shoots.
